"Our
aim is not merely to make children understand, and still less
to force them to memorize, but so to touch their imaginations
as to enthuse them to their innermost core."

Toddler Program (18 months - 2½ years)
Central Montessori's Toddler Program offers professional childcare
and an early childhood education program that introduces the Montessori
Philosophy and Methodology to children from 18 months to 2 ½ years
of age. Our teachers are committed to providing quality care.
Philosophy
and aims of the toddler program:
We strive to provide a nurturing environment where children
develop physically, mentally, emotionally and intellectually.
With this in
mind, the program aims to:
Provide a happy, relaxed and stimulating environment where
children develop a willingness to share and the ability to respect
the rights of others.
Provide a program that will encourage each child to develop
his/her individuality.
Instill an understanding and acceptance of routines and limits.
To help children develop self-confidence, self-respect, self-discipline
and a feeling of security.
The Casa Classroom (2.5 to 6 years)
Montessori is based on a profound respect for the child's personality.
In a Casa classroom, the child is directed to work from his/her
own free choice and is allowed a large measure of independence which
forms the basis of self-discipline. As each child successfully progresses
at his own pace through a series of self-correcting manipulative
exercises, his/her develops confidence in his/her ability to understand
his achievement.
Parent Education
Motessori
school life should be an extension of family life where conduct,
values, and principles of learning are consistent and reinforced
in both venues. A child's success at Central Montessori Schools
is directly related to the parents' understanding of what he/she
is learning in school and why. For this reason, Parent Education
is a very important factor in our program.
Throughout the year, you will be invited to attend Parent Education
evenings, conferences and open houses. The importance of these to
you and your child cannot be over-emphasized and every effort to
attend is recommended. A close home and school partnership is encouraged
so we can make this a rewarding and very enjoyable experience for
you and your child.
Visual Arts
Art is an integral component of the school curriculum. The program
is designed to guide the students in the discovery of their own
potential for artistic expression, through the study of Art History
and the introduction of different visual art techniques. The themes
selected serve as a complement and reinforcement of the academic
program, fostering creative thinking in the students, as well as
their love and understanding of the arts.
Physical Education
At our Montessori school the importance of physical fitness is recognized
and encouraged. Under the direction of a fully accredited directress
with additional training in children's fitness, we offer our students
opportunities for movement through dance, drama and sports. Depending
on the weather and time of year, activities can take place within
the fully enclosed playground or in our well-equipped gymnasium.
Circle Time
This is a time for children to develop
their listening skills, self-confidence (while sharing at show &
tell) and learning about current events. This is a most enjoyable
time for children as they share ideas and express their thoughts
through stories, poems, songs and finger plays. Weekly themes are
also discussed at circle time giving children an opportunity to
learn more in depth about a particular topic of interest.
